Recommendation #1

SKYDIVING :)

Me: “Hey.. let’s go skydiving in a couple weekends?”

Caroline: “Mmm.. ok.”

Me: “OK!!”

(Two weeks later) Annie: “Usually when people make plans over drunken conversations, they don’t go out and make an appointment!”

But my friend Caroline and I did and it was one of the best decisions ever. Even if you’re afraid of heights, skydiving has got to be one of the most exhilarating feelings. Surprisingly, skydiving was never on my list of “things to do,” but around September, I thought “Why not?” and so it happened and I would do it a hundred times over again! -if only it wasn’t so expensive :/

I think you climb an altitude of about 2 miles in the air and fall at 120mph. The feeling of free-fall is indescribable. No matter how fast you think you’re going towards the ground, you never reach it. Your mind is completely clear and nothing else really matters. For about 2-3 minutes the wind is the only thing catching you and then whoosh, parachute comes out and it’s silence & serenity.

If you have the time, the money and someone to go with, PLEASE DO! You won’t regret it.

Actions Speak Louder than Words

I’ve heard this many times in the past 21 years, but I don’t think it was until these past couple months did I realize the true meaning of this phrase.

I used to have a friend who would always say, “Well that just shows you what kind of person he/she is…” whenever I told him about a situation I didn’t see eye to eye with. And what do you know, six months later, I use his own words to find out what kind of person he is. How people react to a situation and how they choose to deal with it, the decisions they make.. it really does show what’s underneath. Someone can tell me sweet lies and feed me bull all day, but in the end, what they do matters and proves far more than any words given to me. It might take me awhile to see past masks and BS, but I eventually get there. &I won’t lie, it does hurt when you realize everything that’s been said and done, maybe wasn’t worth as much as you thought it was. But I would like to think the good guys win in the end. That the truth eventually comes out and people can learn from their mistakes. I certainly am. I just hope there’s room for second chances and I can see things for what they are next time.

I’m just glad I’ve found amazing friends who will stand up for me, watch my back, forgive me for my mistakes and sit next to me when the world comes down.

Yay to summer starting! Let’s have a few drinks and share a few laughs :)

Just because I’m losing, doesn’t mean I’m lost. Coldplay

A signal clicks

As I was circling around campus this morning trying to find a parking spot, the silence of my car and the blinker clicking suddenly brought me back to afternoon drives with my aunt in Australia and rays of sun blinding my eyes.

Now I will admit, I am a pretty nostalgic person, and 9 times out of 10, I’ll think back on the good times before I even remember the bad ones. I absolutely love it when a single song, feeling or item can take you back to a moment in your mind that is captured like an overexposed photograph- you can’t quite make out the entire picture, but you still see the outlines. I love the feeling of summer nights; it reminds me of sneaking into pools, having long conversations in a parking lot and nights of casual drinking. The rain reminds me of dancing in a parking lot to “Do yo chains hang low?” and the sunrise reminds me of staying up with friends and laughing.

Memories are what we are built on but as much as we cherish them, it can break us too. Sometimes we hang on too much, for too long and a single moment of perfection sends us wishing for the past. Sometimes my nostalgia can get overwhelming b/c it reminds me of a time when things were right, where in a moment, things were okay, new, exciting… Unfortunately, I don’t live in a movie and I can’t rewind. But as long as I remind myself to move forward, the feeling of night drives and the summer breeze aren’t so bad. Things don’t always work out the way we want them to, just don’t hang on too long to when it did. There is always a moment to let go and walk away. The memory will still be there when you want to find it.

Night swimming is the best!

the beginning

I have been noticing the tumblr trend for awhile, and after a little reluctancy, I’ve finally caved. With this blog, I’m hoping to keep track of what is suppose to be one of the most transitional stages of my life.. “entering the real world,” from college to career (hopefully at least :] ). Perhaps, it is here where throughout all the chaos and uncertainty in my life, I can find a little insight that can form into something brilliant for others to read and for me to look back on.

This is the beginning :] Of my tumblr and my next stage in life: Post-Graduation. Getting close.. t-minus 2 summer classes and 2 months.

This is one of my favorite Postsecrets <3 If you’ve never heard of this site before, definitely check it out! Postsecret.com This site selects a few anonymous postcards each week from a stack of hundreds to share with the world. It’s some of people’s deepest secrets exposed and reminds us, we’re all struggling with something.
